Had 16 tracks suddenly in my folder with interesting music, so I put it together, kind of melted into a dreamy remix, a lot of hypnotic dreaming progressive house, or something similar.

After 30 minute I just had to add in music related to how machines dream, so it’s a dream theme. Just need to figure out a good title related to dreaming, now.

Actually, after finishing this first take, I did a google search to find more about colors, music and machines, and found this interesting article, so the name of this mix is most likely The Dream of Color Music.

Also need to sleep (and dream), and then get back tomorrow and do a new pass with fresh ears and clean up anything that supposedly sounds good just now.

Scrambled Hackz is like Ableton Live for video and audio. This is just in the earily days. Expect this application evolve a lot, and other similar packages appear!

See this page.

Alas, not available yet. It uses Pure Data, better check out this software audio system environment.

We just adopted another kitten, in addition to our 3-year-old cat Dory. Still not sure what we will name here, but most likely it will be Luna. She needs to be studio-trained, like Dory, so she could sleep in the upper parts of my studio while I work with mixes. Photos soon to arrive, just now she’s shy and is hiding under my son’s bed. Imagine being a 3-months old kitten ending up on a strange new household with game music, techno music, bleeps and other strange sound left and right.

I just uploaded one of the few photos of myself that I like in the Biography section. This is from a recent trip my wife and I did to Napa and Lake Baryesss wherefrom this picture was taken. It was just one of those happy coincidences that the lake, the clouds, the tree stump and me in the middle worked out.

I don’t usually like photos of myself, but this will do as a promotional picture — as it has odd and intriguing elements such as the clouds, the magical lake, and me in a yoga tree-asana posture. Oh well.

Please download it if interested, it will not be there all the time. Here’s the link to download it.

This has a lot of Middle East music, and other interesting combinations, too, like mixing Arabic drumming with Indian singing, classical rock drums in the background, and Jewish music placed in there, too.

Yes, I know, I was pushing the final mastering compression too much — especially as the original tracks were already compressed, but I had to do it for getting that contemporary push sound that many expect.

I asked my kids what would be the next 50 minute project, and Riker said “50 Minutes of Nonsense”. So that is the next project.

It reminds me why a lot of electronica today is so dead-serious. If you ever heard Todd Rundgren songs such as the An Elpee’s Worth Of Toons, or Onomatopoeia, those were indeed crazy electronica.

Now, I rather not sing, so this has to be done just by using compositional factors.

Oh well, need to get this all started this weekend.

Sorry for the delay with postings. I switched companies, so that takes a while concerning settling down to a new place.

Meanwhile, I have a new world music remix that I just finished, World Psychic Karaoke Remix. It had this time a lot of music from the Middle East, Egypt, Lebanon, Israel, and so on. That was fun mashing it all together. I will try to upload the MP3 file shortly.

I upgraded the WordPress blog system from 1.5.2 to 2.0. At the same time I looked around for a new, nice theme for the site.

WordPress 2.0 has very nice admin capabilities, AJAX support for various settings, preview at the bottom of the editing screen, and so on. I also know they fixed bugs…

It helps to be a SW engineer when doing such upgrades, it was not exactly copy-and-paste…

Welcome to my blog. It took a while for me to start one, always had doubts about using a blog for private use. Anyway, I had a conviction that a blog site could be a good thing — I could post information and updates that others might want to read or benefit from. So it’s now up and running.

Expect all kinds of entries from a wide variety of topics, this as in my private life I tend to work in many domains. Follow the categories and pick the entries you want to read. There will be postings about my studio work, equipment used, music theory, about composition issues and ideas. And in my during daytime I’m a software engineer, after all. There will be postings about art in general. And other postings, too.
