About

kent-2.jpgThis is not your regular third person bio about someone touching the piano since the age of four and so forth, so here’s something different.

I’m a musician and producer, currently living in the Bay Area (even if my background is Finland, Sweden and Australia). But I’ve stayed here in the Bay Area for 19 years now and most likely this is the last stomping ground for me as I like the diversity and creativity here.

As for music, done a lot of  genres, from pop music to rock, to avant-garde, eighties synth music, electronic music, fusion, blues, techno. Don’t know what I’m doing next month, but as long as it is interesting and fun, that counts.

My main instrument? The studio. Otherwise, I do think the guitar is with its six strings one of the most expressive instruments out there so I tend to navigate towards it.

I have a label, PlanetoidPark, where I try to push out material now and then, mostly as you really need a label in order to get into iTunes and other electronic distribution channels. I’ve released material with my name, as well as with other names such as Genietronix, Darkwater, Atomic Berry and The Nanometers.

If someone wants to hire me as a musician, contact me. I could do guitar, bass, keyboards and additional vocals. I’ve done temp musician gigs for a while now and it seems to work out well,KS-Bass-1-smallboth for me and the bands. They need a hired gun, I show up and get the job done. Usually if the playlist is known stuff, no need for practices, for more complex material it all depends, from one rehearsal up to multiple ones. You could also catch me now and then at the various jams here in the Bay Area as this is a good way to get connections as well as test out various configurations and see if magic happens on-stage.

As a producer, if the project is interesting I could take the job. A producer, in my mind, is someone who handles three important parts. First, to make sure the record is produced and released in a timely fashion. Secondly, the production is refreshing and creative. Thirdly, to act as a filter and fix possible song structure issues, bad timings, musical sequences that do not work and so forth. I have my own style, so if you hire me, you hire the style, too. But then again that’s how producers should work, not do copycat work based on other producers’ styles.

I’m also available as a software consultant concerning audio products, studio setups, Internet presence and so forth.

For more information, see my Twitter account, MySpace account, iMeem and various other places where I show up.

Here’s an article listing of various musical influences I have had in this lifetime.
