I have to agree with he first fellow who wrote about these units yeh!! grossly overpriced when you see and hear the new Roland sholder synth AX-9.
This is a synth not a controller so where do the others get off trying to charge the same sort of price for a MIDI controller.
Plus if you look at the yamaha controller you better have small fingers ( I think its just about two octaves).
For anyone looking for a good keytar or sholder synth stick to the company that provides value for money!!!!

Yep, and that Simmons-like drums would rule. Not that I still miss the dynamic punch of Simmons snares and toms, seems it is not appropriate to use those in productions today, sigh.

While these were no replacement for guitars back in the day, they were pretty cool. Remember when everyone thought that within 10 years of these coming out that "old-fashioned" guitars would die out? LOL!

Best it to scan eBay and craiglist. I've seen that the astronomical prices have finally dropped -- which makes sense for plastic controllers that won't last that long.

Otherwise, send letters to Roland asking them to start making new ones. Or let's see what NAMM this week will bring us concerning new MIDI controllers.

Basicaly residing 2 - 4 hours most evenings at a "starship" console, I very much enjoy the odd song where I play guitar.
I have wanted a Korg or Roland midi remote for a year or two now,but the only thing I have found that is affordable is a poly 800 2.
yuk...
don't want that one...
I agree that these keytars are unreasonably priced on the auction sites, being they are just small keyboard controlers, and you need something nice in the rack to connect it to for it to be af ANY value.( IF they had internal sounds, that would be quite a different story, but then they might be to heavy for me)
They are now asking more for these things at auction then I paid for my second roland 5080 module.
thats properly crazy!!! not going to happen...
I hope your voice is heard as there are many of us who really would like one or two of these...
